Top 10 Posts of 2010

As I look back over my Google Analytics stats for the year I have been pleased at the increase of traffic that the blog has seen. In one almost one year of blogging I have learned a lot about SEO, WordPress, and social media. There is still a lot more to learn!

There is one thing that is just crazy when looking back over the past year of blogging. That is, how some blog posts draw traffic more than others. The reason that this is crazy to me is that sometimes I hit publish and think the post will draw great traffic and have great conversation in the comments, and it turns out to be just the opposite. Then other times I struggle to find something to write about…then at the last minute through something together and hit publish and it turns out to be a post that generates lots of hits and conversation.

I guess that is something that I want to dig further into in the future.

So here are the Top 10 Posts from The Daily walk for 2010: Continue Reading…

What I Got This Christmas

I had a great time spending time with family this past weekend for Christmas. I got to see my brother who lives in Wisconsin who only gets to come down twice a year which was awesome. It was just a great weekend and a good break.

I also go some petty cool stuff as well. Here is a list of some of the great gifts I received this Christmas: Continue Reading…

Evernote Desktop Upgrade and Review

I tried to upload this post from my iPad over the Christmas break. There where apparently issues with it so I corrected the problem and am reposting it. If you read it the first time before I pulled it sorry. Hope everyone had a great Christmas.

I am a big fan of the note taking software Evernote. I use it ton take notes on everything in general to draft my blog posts. A couple of weeks ago an update came out for the Windows desktop version that I do most of my post drafting in. I had been waiting for this update for some time now. I was not wanting the update because I wanted a update on the desktop versions features, but because I wanted the look of the software to change. It just looked boring. The update brought just what in was looking for. The look is so much better than the previous version. It does not look like it should be part of Windows 98. So thank you Evernote for making something for Windows that is a little eye appealing. Now not only do I have a note taking software on my desktop that few others compare, but also now something that looks like it belongs in 2010 and not in the 90′s.

The thing that I love about the Evernote desktop software is that I feel so organized when I am using it. I can type something up, tag it, and put it in a folder and I know exactly where it is. I can also easily access notes that I have created from my phone and update them on the go. I can say that Evernote makes me more productive, because I find myself writing down a note here and there. In such places as waiting in lines or even waiting on my wife while she is trying on clothes at the mall.

I use Evernote on the phone and iPad all of the time and up to now it was just so much more eye appealing than the desktop software. The upgrade has produced a much needed face lift for the Windows software.

Thanks Evernote!

My Dream Office

I often think of the day that I will have a home office just the way I like it. Stocked with awesomeness!

Here are a few if the things that I would like for it to have:

  • A large desk – a good sturdy desk. Not a cheap desk, but one that will last and that my son could one day sit at to work.
  • A window – in front of that desk would have to be a window. Where in can just sit back from working and sit back and take in the outdoor beauty rejuvenating myself.
  • Good storage – I would need to have a spot for everything. Good filing.
  • A white board – I would want a large white board on the wall that I could mind map on.
  • A large cork board – to put up paper notes I may have and art my son makes for me.
  • A couch – a place to take a break…or a nap when needed!
  • An inspirational piece of art – it would have to be something that motivates me whenever I look it. It could be a photograph or painting.
  • Lots of family photos – because I love my family.
  • Mac – the computer sitting on the desk would have to be a Mac. I am trying to save up for one now. They are built to last.
  • Wall color – it would have to be some neutral color. Not something to overbearing.

A home office is something that I hope to someday have to work in. I have given it a lot of thought of over the years so I know what I want it to be. One day I think I will have it, but until then I can only plan and dream of how perfect it will be. For now my home office is the living room couch!

Do you have a home office? Is it just how yo want it? (Leave Comment)
