After staying up late watching an amazing National Championship game, the Tigers from Auburn, Alabama came out the victors. War Eagle! A perfect ending to a Cinderella sort of season.
What a nail bitter it was. A back and forth batter between two teams that deserved to be there. Two teams that have had over a month to prepare for each other, and it showed. Each came ready for what the other team would throw at them. It came down to the small things and Auburn’s defense in the end proved to much for the Ducks running game.
Beginning the season I had no idea that the Tigers would make such an unbelievable run. They had some tough fought games all year, but they constantly proved that they had what it took to prevail in all of the tough situations. They had that never say doe, never give up attitude. They always thought they where in the game no matter how far behind they fell. That sort of confidence can take teams far as the Tigers from Auburn showed this year.
While watching the game last night 5 things came to me. So here they are:
- You can argue it all day long, but the SEC is one of the top if not the top conference in college football. How can you argue when the last five champions have come from the SEC.
- Oregon’s uniforms are terrible. They come out every week with some crazy variation of their jersey. Oregon’s neon colors where literally giving me a headache. I think those things would glow in the dark….
- I love sports. I love the competition. I am so glad that sports where created and I get to watch them and had the opportunity to play them for a lot of my life.
- Gene Chizik is a winner. He gets his players ready to play, and is the type of coach that I would want to play for. He cares for the players and building them up as men on and off the field.
- My son at 21 months sat in my lap and watched the entire game. When the game was over he fell asleep in my arms. I loved the bonding of sitting there watching the game together and the security that I felt as he fell asleep their in my arms. My wife also watched the game with me, and I love the way she gets into the game. I have so much to be thankful for… I love my family.

So there they are. Just some thoughts that came to me I made mental note of while watching the game last night.
What a game. It had everything that you could have asked for in a National Championship game.
Now the tough part begins for the Auburn Tigers. That is, defending the National Championship when everyone you play next year will be coming at you with all they have next year. It is always much easier to get to the top than to stay there. Then there is the question too, while two of your best players go in the NFL draft? Probably. There are going to be some big roles to fill. Next season will be interesting and fun. I cannot wait!
In the following video you can see how the game ended, and Oregon’s terrible choice of neon socks…(Personal Opinion)
Did you watch the game last night? What pro or college teams do you pull for?

Glad you had a great time watching the game. Thanks for sharing the experience. I was doing homework and stuff.
Thanks for stopping in. Was a fun game. I remember the homework days…
War Eagle! it was a magical season. I was sort of down on the eve of the big game because it’s my first season in ten that I didn’t make it to a game. God called us to Dallas last summer, so it’s not the 5-6 hour drive to Auburn that it used to be.
Then the big game… I had buddies who were there, so I was having a little pity party that I couldn’t join them. But… like you, I watched it with my family. We made an orange and blue meal (boneless chicken wings, blue corn chips with blue guacamole, etc.), then sat around and soaked it in. Sure, it would have been fun to be at the game with my buddies, but I wouldn’t have traded those hours with my wife and kiddos for anything.
Anyway, thanks for the reminder about what’s important.
And, War Eagle!
Thanks for stopping by and sharing. War Eagle!
Was there really a game? Hmmm didn’t know.
