Blog Post Ideas

Since I started blogging I have constantly found myself on the lookout for anything that could lead to a possible post idea. Whenever I come up with a post idea I like to just jot it down with Evernote that I have as a app on my blackberry. I like to have as many ideas on backlog as I can that way I can always have something to blog about on any particular day. Plus, there will be days that you just cannot come up with things to blog about. Those backup ideas are always good for those sort of days. Most of the time though I will already have something on my mind that I will blog about that day. Those ideas can come from anywhere…

Here are some of the ways that I come up with blog post ideas:
- Reading – As a member of the Booksneeze blogging for books program I am able get books to review that generates pretty regular content for my blog. Since I enjoy reading so much just reading books in general can lead to ideas that can lead to posts. Many times I have been reading books and have thought a subject could be worth blogging about and just take note of it.
- News – The news can give you something to write about almost daily. You can write a post about agreeing or disagreeing with a particular story. If controversial enough this type of post can lead to in depth community discussion.
- RSS Feeds – Other blogs can also lead to content. You can elaborate more on a subject that another blogger hit on.
- Videos – There are numerous good stories floating around on video sites like Youtube and Vimeo.
- Conversation – I am constantly amazed at how many post ideas I get from just having conversation with family and friends. It can often be some of the best.

These are just a few of the ways that that I have found success in then aid of coming up with constant blog post ideas.
Another thing I like to do before diving into a post is to mind map that idea to see if there could possible other blog post opportunities off of it. If there are I take note of them and add to the stock pile off ideas that will eventually turn into blog post or be trashed after further evaluation.

So are there any ways that you have found success and coming up with post ideas?
