Blood Covenant by Lisa Harris is a fast paced fiction work that takes place in the heart of Africa. The books main character Dr. Paige Ryan works for the Volunteers of Hope International. She has come to the Republic of Dhambizao with aspirations of changing the world by helping those in need. However, she has come to a country that is on the brink of civil war, and where a group of Ghost Soldiers are trying to over through the government by any means necessary. After loosing a close friend to these rebels Dr. Ryan is ready to go home, but she is summoned to go to a refugee camp in hope of getting started an effort to try to stop the cholera outbreak in the camp. She agrees to get the camp started, but wants out of the country when she has done her part in the effort. What she does not know in agreeing to do this is how her life is about to be turned upside down in every way imaginable.
I really enjoyed this book by Lisa Harris. The characters were very well-developed, and coupled with the setting and the plot of the book I was very impressed. This book offers suspense, action, hope, love, and drama. What more could you ask for. Their really is never a dull moment as these relief workers work to save these innocent people for the hand of their own.
This book though fiction really makes you think about how other parts of the world live and struggle to survive every day. It opened my eye to how we as Americans take for granted a lot of these things like safety, food, and shelter that we have. Another thing are all of the people out there giving relief and working hard to help these people in these conditions. People that are selfless and really want to help and that put their lives in jeopardy every day for the greater good.
This book was a great read and a real eye opener, though fictitious, to conditions that people have to live and work in on a daily basis. So if you are looking for a book that has a bit of everything definitely give this one a shot!
I received this book in turn for a review from Tyndale Book Publishers. Please visit my disclosure policy for any further information.

Sounds like a great book!
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it!
It sounds like it has a great story line. However, I have never been a fan of fiction. I’ve never been able to bring myself to enjoy one. I know there are great fiction books out there. I guess there just not my flavor. Though your review does make me at least want to attempt to get in to this one. It’s a good review. I’ll be doing my first Booksneeze review this week.
Sounds like a great book. Thank you for sharing.
I’m finding that my reading wishlist is getting way out of hand. Hence the book giveaway on Some Wise Guy this week.
I like it a lot more than I though I would, and I am glad that i gave it a chance.
