The Traveler’s Gift by Andy Andrews

The Traveler’s Gift by Andy Andrews is a modern day parable that revolves around the life of the books main character David Ponder. David’s life is in shambles and nothing seems to be going his way. It appears in fact that life seems everything in life is going against him. When David reaches rock bottom he gets to meet seven historical individuals that will forever change his. He experiences encounters with great figures, such as Abraham Lincoln, Joshua Chamberlain, Harry Truman, Christopher Columbus, Anne Frank, King Solomon, and even the Archangel Gabriel. They each give David a decision that he must choose to make for his life to turn around. For if he does not decide to make these decisions then his life will never go in the direction that he so wants.

Booksneeze – New Book on the Way – Beyond Opinion

After a longer wait than usual I have my next book from the Booksneeze program on the way.

For some reason this month the updates to the books on the Booksneeze site have been few and far between. Not complaining because I think the program and what they are doing is great.

Much to my surprise in the email that i recieved was an option to download the ebook title. I was thrilled at this feature. That way I could just download the book time my iPad and read it from there. However, the link was broken, and I was not able to get the ebook version. Maybe this will be corrected.

I had sent Michael Hyatt a tweet about a month ago and ask if he thought that this feature would be added to the program. He replied that it was in the works. I did not expect it to be implemented so soon. This would be great for the program with the ever expanding ereader and ebook market.

Today though they uploaded a couple of new titles and I went with this one by Ravi Zacharias.

Here is a synopsis of the book from Booksneeze:

In addition to writing several chapters himself, Ravi Zacharias brings together many of today’s leading apologists and Christian teachers, including Alister McGrath and John Lennox, to address topics present in the very future of worldwide Christianity—from the process of spiritual transformation to the challenges posed by militant atheism and a resurgent Islam. Destined to become a classic, Beyond Opinion is a touchstone that will affect Christians around the world.

A definitive master work from the world’s leading Christian apologist. Respected apologist Ravi Zacharias was once sharing his faith with a Hindu when the man asked: “If the Christian faith is truly supernatural, why is it not more evident in the lives of so many Christians I know?” The question hit hard, and this book is an answer. Its purpose is to equip Christians everywhere to simultaneously defend the faith and be transformed by it into people of compassion.

Sound like a great read and apologetics is a really interesting subject that I have wanted to dive into. Cannot to start reading….

Anyone read this book? Thoughts?

66 Love Letters by Dr. Larry Crabb

66 Love LettersI received 66 Love Letters: A Conversation with God That Invites You into His Story
and could not wait to dive into it. From the short description I had read about it sounded like it would be a great read. In this book Dr. Larry Crabb goes from Genesis to Revelation though the 66 chapters of the Bible in a conversation with God. Each chapter starts of with the author asking God what he was trying to convey through this chapter. The Lord then responds with what he is trying to convey. All in all Dr. Crabb gives his own translation of what the Lord is saying in the underlying messages of the Bible.

How to Reach your Full Potential for God by Charles Stanley

In the book “How to Reach Your Full Potential for God” pastor, author and teacher Dr. Charles Stanley gives the reader an outline of essential elements they must commit to in order to reach ones full potential in serving God. These seven elements are as follows: 1.) A Clean Heart 2.) A Clean Mind 3.) Using Your Gifts 4.) A Healthy Body 5.) Right Relationships 6.) A Balanced Schedule 7.) Take God Approved Risks. Dr. Stanley goes into depth on each of these essentials and illustrates how God intended for use to focus on each of these areas.

In my opinion, Dr. Stanley succeeded in what he set out to do in this book in a captivating and understandable manner. The book was well researched and organized very well. I especially liked the fact that at the end of each of “the essentials” chapters noted above that he added a story about actual people and how they are reaching their full potential for God in that individual area. It really gives the reader something to relate too.

This book would be a great book for a church to go through in a bible study or a great inspirational book for someone looking to find themselves and what their objective is for severing Christ.

…and I agree with Dr. Stanley, “The best is yet to come.”
