In the video clip below from CNN, Bill Nye the Science Guy tries to explain the difficultly in plugging the oil spill in the Gulf.
I am amazed that the oil is still leaking. BP has so much at its disposal. financially they could hire anyone to try to solve the problem, but it seems as they feel that they can take care of it themselves. I feel they made a big hiccup in the first place by not having some sort of system ready in case something like this were to ever happen. The SHOULD have been prepared because you know they had to know if something like this happened that it would e detrimental to them as a company and crippling to the ecosystem that it would disrupt.
However, it has happened and there are countless companies and individuals saying they have the solution to the problem. I even saw Kevin Costner and his business partners showing off their solution to the problem (see video below). With all these individuals coming forward if I were BP I would allow them to take their solutions to the problem and the one or more that worked there would be a substantial reward for the help and the product would be implemented into their protocol God forbid something like this were to happen again.
Today though BP goes at the spill again with what is labeled the ” top kill” procedure (link explaining it from BP site). It is a procedure that has been done on land but never underwater. They are also giving the success rate of this 60 to 70 percent which I feel is UNACCEPTABLE. We shall see though. I guess the rate is as good as shoving tires and golf balls down the hole to plug the leak.
I just pray a solution will be found soon…
Do you have any thoughts on the spill?
