I was recently faced with the option of purchasing an iPad or a netbook, and it was not a easy decision to say the least. They both do things well and these are the reasons that the iPad won me over.
- Portability -The iPad is just so much easier and lighter to carry around. I do not travel much with business , but the iPad would be a perfect for the daily traveler who requires access to email and a calendar on a consistent basis.
- Convenient – It is easily accessible and quick to boot. If I want to jot down a note or browse something quickly in the internet the start up is quick.
- Blogging – I needed a tool that allowed me to jot down notes for blog posts and blog from and the iPad was essentially what I was looking for. It has Evernote for note taking and research, and the WordPress app for blogging. (More on the WordPress app coming soon)
- E-book Reading – I currently have a kindle and the iPad consolidated things that I would have to carry around with me on a daily basis. So instead of having to carry around a notebook, a laptop, and the kindle I have merged all of these items into one tool.I have downloaded the Kindle app and the iBooks app and they both work really well. The only problem that i have is that some pdf files that I have converted and placed on my Kindle I have not found the way to drag and drop them on the hard drive of the iPad.
- Entertainment – The iPad allows you to watch video, listen to your music and play games all of which the netbook would have been inferior too. The screen and graphics of the iPad are great.
- Look – The look of the iPad is a little more elegant as well. It is just so much more appealing than carrying around the clunky netbook.

My wife has a netbook and I would choose an ipad over it anyday. I was faced with the choice between a macbook pro and an ipad and the macbook one do to the fact that I use is for school and I thought it would be better for significant amounts of paper writing. However, I still would like to get an ipad at some point in the future.
I landed on the Macbook Air. Seemed like a good compromise between the portability of the iPad and the power of a laptop. I’m loving it so far.
Though I’d still like an iPad…
I have an iPad and I do not use it near as much as I would have thought.
I bought a MacBook Pro before the first of the year and love it. It was in the budget and the MacBook Air was not. I love the Air’s and maybe one day I will score me one.
