Dare to Dream

This commercial was my favorite last night during the Super Bowl.

Personally, I could have cared less about the game. I am not a big follower of professional football and did not even watch he entire game.

This commercial got me thinking about dreams and aspirations…

Like the kid in the commercial above as we where growing up we had dreams what we wanted to do and or accomplish. We knew at that time with confidence we could accomplish anything. We aspired to be something big and thought we could reach any goal.

Then as we get older life happens and our dreams sort of get pushed aside.  There is no place for them anymore.

People tell us we cannot do this or that. That it is impossible. We hear words like: never, no, really?, dreamer, nothing… and the list can go on and on. Then we start believing it. That childhood dreamer who aspires to be something he really wants to be gets lost somewhere along the way.

I am not talking about having super powers or “the force”, but what about the kid/high schooler/young adult who wanted to adopt someday, do mission work, help at church, start their own business…

So today I am going to start dreaming again, and start tying to accomplish the goals that I someday want to accomplish and work toward them. I am going to look to expand my bucket list that I created a while back and instead of calling it my bucket list call it my life goals.

Do you still dream, or have a dreams you wish to accomplish?

I still dream, but now I am actively in pursuit of my dreams instead of thinking “One day….”

    Adam,

Great post. I have been giving a lot of thought lately about the dreams in my heart as well. The other day I was taking a look at your bucket list and it got me thinking about my own bucket list. Thanks for posting it and I hope it continues to help others ‘dream again.’ Take care.

This year I am restarting the dream of being a professional musician. I started the process 2 years ago and it took me that long to finally realize that is all I want to do.

    Good luck!

Living, and working on my dream(s). I kind of had this same realization a few years ago. The result? I moved within 3 miles of our church, found a job 6 miles away, and my wife is now a SAHM.

The progress did not go the way we envisioned it, and the end result ended up way better than we’d ever imagined. I still dream now, and have learned that for the most part, we only regret things we never did, and my wife now responds to my ideas more with WOW, than HOW? Cliche’ish I know, but it makes a HUGE difference.

      Thanks for sharing Ben. Encouraging.

      That is an amazing story!
Hoping to do the same because my wife would like to stay home too.

I loved that commercial – it was one of my top two or three favorites from the bowl.

So, maybe we can learn something from the dad in the commercial…isn’t that kind of like God? Waiting for an opportunity where we are doing our part, we can’t do it on our own (and somewhere inside we know this), yet we have faith that God will come through and do the rest. Just like the little kid kept trying different things, we have to find the ‘thing’ God wants for us. Then watch out – God likes to bless us when we least expect it!

      Love that Steve. So true!

My son and I found that comercial before the superbowl. We’re both talking about it. I heard Michio Kaku explain a design for a light saber that should be able to be produced within 50 years. So a fivolous dream, I’d like to be the first in line to buy one :)

Keep chasing the dream my friend.
Blogging for me has been a definite step towards making dreams a reality.
Right now it’s a balance of chasing the dream at a pace I can sustain while being so busy.

    Great post.

I hear ya man. Blogging is definitely something that requires planning and time. I am loving it though, and cannot wait to see where it leads.
