Last week Gmail introduced Gmail Priority Inbox. In short this feature allows you to tag from who the mail is sent and it will allow all mail coming in from those senders to go to a inbox labeled priority. Over time, the sorted priority inbox will improve the sorting of emails by learning more and more what you label as priority. (Frightening!)
Anyway, attached is a short video that Gmail has produced to explain their new priority inbox feature.
This seems like a great tool for those getting tremendous amounts of email everyday, but for me I think that having a smartphone and spam filtering allows me to keep my Gmail inbox at a pretty manageable size.
My smartphone allows me to check email when it comes in in real time. At that point I can trash it, label it for follow up, or label it and file it. I can see where those not having a smartphone with email features, or that have large quantities of email will find this feature useful. For me though I just do not have the use for it.
Do you use the Gmail Priority Inbox Feature?
