Have you ever wondered after praying for something if it is actually God directing you, or could it be your own selfish conscience? Could your own self motivation be pushing you in one direction over another?
I often think of this when praying about God’s direction in my life. I feel as if I am not sure if it is me doing the directing, or if it is actually God leading me where he wants me to be.
I always have to dig deep to find out. I hope that in the end that I am honoring God in all the decisions that I make for my life.
Any thoughts on the subject?

I have struggled with this idea on numerous occasions and found a great deal of comfort in a prayer by Thomas Merton. Here is a link to the prayer, I actually posted this on my blog a little over a year ago.
