Monday Questions #13 on a Tuesday

I hope everyone had a nice and refreshing long weekend and enjoyed their 4th.

I know I did. It was refreshing and relaxing. Both of which where much-needed.

So here are the questions for you today. Including one bonus…:

1. How did you spend your July 4th long weekend?
2. Fireworks or no fireworks?
3. Did you read anything good over the weekend?

Bonus: Transformers 3 or Super 8? My wife and I are going to go to the movie this weekend. Have you all seen one, or the other, or both? Which would you recommend?

That’s what I have for you today. I hope you all have a great rest of the week.

My Answers:
1. My wife, son, and myself went to the beach. It was nice and relaxing. Enjoyed spending quality time with family. Also, drove to Dothan, AL yesterday to complete our move. Still trying to get house sold. Praying for the right family to come along.

2. Fireworks from a distance. We did not shoot any this year.

3. I started and have almost completed Jesus, My Father, the CIA, and Me…a Memoir of Sorts by Ian Cron. Loving it!

    1. Had a fairly relaxing weekend. Rode on Friday for 23 miles. spent Saturday chilling. sunday was spent with another family in church. Monday I went for a 30 mile ride and spent the rest of the day laying around, grilling and relaxing. Don’t get to do that very often.

    2. None. Never have. Never will.

    3. Finished a book on John MacArthur and started reading The Man Who Makes a Difference.

    Adam,
I did start reading “Change Anything” this weekend. Pretty powerful book. Also, saw Super 8 and Transformers over the past couple of weeks. I enjoyed Transformers more than Super 8. My wife saw Super 8 with me and did not like it. She wouldn’t even go see Transformers so I went with two of my brother-in-laws.

    The 4th was excellent!

    1. I went to the beach on Saturday. Enjoyed a picnic on Sunday. And our family enjoyed a parade, the pool, and fireworks from a distance.
    2. We did see fireworks, but it was not what we expected.
    3. I read some blogs. I need to get moving onto my next reading project. I’m looking forward to reading Erasing Hell by Francis Chan.

    1. My family spent the weekend simply – we spent time as a family, took a couple of drives, went to church, and just hung out together.
    2. We saw some fireworks on tv. We also live a hop, skip and a jump from a minor league baseball stadium – where they shot off an incredible show of fireworks after the game.
    3. I actually didn’t read much over the weekend. However, I jumped back in full force today. Rereading Leadership and the One Minute Manager and Spiritual Parenting…to get started.

Bonus Q: Haven’t seen either; sorry, not much help here.

    1. Night fishing, swimming, church service, visiting a former church, Dollywood.
    2. We saw a fireworks display after leaving Dollywood.
    3. I’m reading Not a Fan. I can’t remember the author’s name at the present time. But it is a good read.
    4. Super 8 looks much, MUCH better to me.

    1. I preached at my church so that took a lot of my time. On Monday we went to a friends for a cookout.
    2. Fireworks got rained out.
    3. I am reading the Grace of God by Andy Stanley. So far it’s a solid read.

Bonus: I saw them both. I don’t think you can go wrong with either. Transformers is a little long. It should have been 30 minutes shorter but it’s very entertaining. Super 8 is great. It’s not as fun as Transfrormers but it has a better plot and acting.

1.) Most of it was spent working (including Monday), but the better part of Monday was spent enjoying a cook out with friends.

2.) No Fireworks. My wife started to get sick later in the evening.

3.) I read “Give me a break” by John Stossel. It’s worth reading.

    1. At a backyard barbecue with friends and family (clichéd answer, I know)
    2. Oh yeah.
    3. “The World of Caffeine – The Science and Culture of the World’s Most Popular Drug” by Weinberg and Bealer. I figure I drink so much of the stuff I might as well learn something about it.
3-a. Don’t give Micheal Bay any more money, watch Super 8.

    1. I had a great 4th of July with my family. We had a nice BBQ at my parents. Very low key and relaxing.

    2. I didn’t need fireworks, my neighborhood was experiencing shock and awe from all of the fireworks going on around my house.

    3. I spend some time reading a theology text book for a class I’m taking in August.
