As a received One Hand, Two Hands by Max Lucado yesterday I immediately knew that this book would be getting its ultimate critique from my son at bed time.
The book was written to teach children what an important tool their hands are. It teaches that with your hands you are able to do so many things from helping and serving others to sitting down at the end of the day and folding them together to pray. Too a child the rhyming of the story creates a fun little jingle for them.
I would have to say the book accomplishes what it sets out to do. It shows children what a valuable tool their hands are, and what all they use them for in their daily lives; some things they could possibly even take for granted.
Needless to say my 18 month old son sat and listened intently as I read the book to him, taking in every beautifully done illustration by Gaby Hansen. I would recommend this book to any parent or grandparent who is looking for a good book to get to read to their children or grandchildren.
I am so happy that Christian authors take the time to produce children’s titles such as this one. For teaching kids good morals about loving and helping others at an early age, like One Hand, Two Hands is aiming to do, will play a major role in the future of this country and world. It is so sad to see children overlooked when they should be our first priority…
