Opening Day 2011

Playing baseball mostly all of my life today is a big day for me. It starts the 2011 major league baseball season.

Being from Alabama we do not have a major league team so I have been a Braves fan as long as I can remember. I am also a fan of Josh Hamilton and the Texas Rangers. If you have not heard his story you should check it out below.

So tonight as I type this I am sitting with my wife and son watching the first of hopefully many games this season.

Play ball! Lets play some ball!

Do you follow baseball? Who’s your team?

My team is, um, the Pirates. I can’t betray my lifelong club even if they are the losingest team in the history of American sports. Josh Hamilton is great.

    Hamilton is great!
My team is the Cubs. Yes, who would lie about that? And I’ll watch about 140 of the 162 games, 2 or 3 of them at Wrigley.

I would love to be able to go to a game at Wrigley. Such a part of baseball history!

I am on Clay’s side. I am a lifelong Pirates fan, even though they are the losingest club in history. I grew up near Pittsburgh, played ball, rooted for the Pirates in 1960 (World Series), through the Clemente era, the “We are Family” era, through the Bonds, Bonilla, VanSlyke “Oh-so-close” era, and now through the “can we really be that bad?” era. I have a daughter who is a Braves (barf) fan and relishes the “Oh so close” era. I watch two sports-baseball and cycling. I will watch ESPN now for the next few months because there is something of interest. And I hope Josh repeats to show it was not a fluke and his platform for testimony grows bigger. May God continue to give him strength to say “No” where/when it needs to be said.

I agree with watching ESPN more. Love baseball tonight!

JH is overrated. I only say this because I’m a Yankees fan. :)

Go Yanks! I love baseball season. Very excited and I’m already going to the stadium (Yankee Stadium) in 2 weeks.

Great story! I do follow baseball and being from Canada I am a huge Blue Jay fan. I am from Toronto and I have many fond memories of watching them at the old Exhibition Stadium and then into the Skydome which is now called the Rogers Center. Pretty excited for opening night. Ricky Romero is starting against the Twins.

The Jays. Love me some baseball memories. I can remember the first time my dad took me to a Braves game if Fulton County Stadium. It was amazing!
