Personal Goals for 2012 or My #twowords

Now that 2012 is upon us it is time once again to set some goals that I would like to attain this year. I really do not like the term “resolutions” so I prefer using goals instead. I am more goal oriented anyway.
Last year I posted my goals and renewed them at the end of the year. I found that writing my goals out here on the blog held me more accountable and allowed me to explore them even more as I typed them out on the page. Then found it even more humbling at the end of the year when I did the annual report and feel short in several areas.

Over the past week I have been thinking and praying about my personal goals for this year. What I should pursue and what is really not that important. There have two words that have been coming to my mind as I contimplate the upcoming year and those words are: “Better Myself”

In working on bettering myself in the coming year and hopefully into the years to come I want to focus on several areas. Over the next several days I am going to explore each area that I want to personally grow.

Here are the areas that I want to grow in the coming year:

Hate Religion, Love Jesus

This video has been circulating the interwebs for several weeks and the first time I saw it I was blown away.

There is so much truth spoken in only a few minutes. Such a very powerful video of complete honesty.

If you have not seen the video I highly suggest you give it a watch. It is only a few minutes long and will not take up too much of your time.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

What did you think?

My God Is Not Dead

He is surely alive!

I love this song. The church we went to before we moved played it during praise and worship. The words are so powerful the Newsboys really have done a great job with this video.

Hope you enjoy it after the jump! Continue Reading…

2011 Personal Goals: Year End Review

This year was unlike any I had ever experienced. Our family moved back to our home town and a lot happened right after the move that took our life by storm. We have loved the move though. Things have been settling down and we are “hitting our stride” so to speak. We have enjoyed the slower pace of the country, more rural atmosphere, but have missed friends that we have in Birmingham. It is a new chapter in our lives and one that we are enjoying more and more. With the ups and downs of the year I look back at the personal goals that I made for myself and posted on the blog here and wonder how I actually did. Well lets take a look:

  • Read at least 25 books this year - Looking back I did not reach this goal. When making this one I knew it would be tough but I wanted to give it a go. I actually read a total of 14 books this year. All things considered I am very proud of this. That is over a book a month, and with a move thrown in there I consider that pretty good.
  •

  • Try to take on more web design projects - This I did accomplish. I was able to take on a total of two more clients and have really enjoyed it.
  •

  • Get a community outreach project my wife and I want to develop up and running - We did not get this up and running, but since the move we have had some interest in conversation that some of the people we know down here would like to take on this project with us. We will see where this goes in the near future.
  •

  • Finish reading the Bible - I did not get this accomplished, but have made it about half way through. Look to finish this year.
  •

  • Loose 40 pounds - I accomplished then failed at this. I actually lost 25 and then put it back on. So fail…
  •

  • Drink more water -  I am drinking a lot more water than usual and far less soda than I used to.
  •

  • Learn more CSS - I learned more but still want to continue to learn more in the future and rely less on book and more on knowledge I have acquired from putting it into practice.
  •

  • Accomplish 3 or more bucket list items - I was successful at accmplishing this one. I was able to do a series post here on the blog, go back to were my wife and i met, and go to Disney World.
  •

  • Add at least 3 more items to the bucket list - Not sure if I did this or not. I will be adding some thinkgs to it in the near future.
  •

  • Teach my son to hit a baseball – My son is hit or miss when it comes to actualy hitting a ball. However, he has an arm on him and has hit about everything in the house including me and his mother.
  •

  • Try to have more patience - I think overall this year I have had more patience. Like everthing it is a work that is constantly in progress.
  •

  • Get the redesign of my family site complete and move it to the new web address - I have moved our family website form tuckerbabybook.com to meetthetuckers.net. It also includes a new design that I hope to be improving on in the months to come.

So there you have it. I think that it was overall a good year. I wish I could have accomplished a few more goals and done more, but I am happy with the end result. Be sure to watch out for the 2012 Personal Goals to come in the very near future.

How did your fair in the area of personal goals as 2011 comes to an end?

I had seen this book all over the place. It had been in the news and all over the media. When I saw that it was available for review as one of the choices for Thomas Nelson Book Publishers blogging for books program Booksneeze I knew that it would be the next title that I was going to review.
