Donald Miller’s A Million Miles Released on Paperback

Donald Miller’s book A Million Miles in a Thousand Years has recently been released on paperback. On his blog Miller is giving away copies of his highly popular book you should definitely go check it out. This one has been on my books to read list for some time now so I am jumping at the opportunity.

I read his book Searching for God Knows What, and really enjoyed it. The way that Miller looks at things is very interesting, and his writing style is very easy to read.

I am very much looking forward to reading this book, and will post a review here on the site with all of my thoughts!

Have you read this book? What where your thoughts on it?

Satan Looks to Devour

Yes He Does!

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8

This verse speaks a lot of truth. He is continually looking for people to devour and lives to tear apart.

As I reflect on this past weekend in my own life I can see where the devil attacked me and my family.

My son was sick last week, and to add to the my wife and I got a stomach virus which my son caught and now has.

We had a big weekend planned too. Continue Reading…

A Plan and the Ability to Get the Most Out of Life

I started out 2011 by posting some personal goals of mine.

One of those goals was to loose some weight. Forty pounds to be exact. I would love to loose more though.

It is one of the goals that is going to be difficult. probably the most difficult. It always want to exercise and loose weight, but when the time comes it is always I will start tomorrow. I do not have a plan, and game plans are so important when undertaking anything.

Growing up I was always in pretty good shape. I played sports in high school and in college and was always doing some kind of conditioning. Sometimes it even felt a little bit like torture.

When I got out of school I really wanted to just take a break from all the running, and lifting weights…bad move! It is so hard to get motivated to start back.

Let me tell you something fellas women are not the only ones to put on a few pounds during a pregnancy. I was the heaviest I had ever been when my son was born.

Now it is the end of winter and I need to really get rid of the extra pounds that I have put on, and start chipping away at my goal for the year and even try to surpass it.

So I had come up with a plan, and here it is: Continue Reading…

Why I Do Not Watch the News

image

Do you watch the news?

A while back I decided that I just could not watch the news anymore.

The culmination of negative news reporting was just getting to me. It seemed like every time that I sat down to watch, everything being reported was negative. i guess if it is not negative, it is not news???

Come on, throw a good uplifting story in there somewhere! Save a kitten from a tree for crying out loud….

By the time I was done watching the news I was just feeling so down. How could you not with, war, crime, drugs, disasters, and the list goes on.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not trying to avoid bad news. I am just choosing to take it in defferently.

Now I read the news, and when I have read my news stories for the day I feel like I am up to date with what is going on in the world, and far less stressed.

So these days I am consuming my news fix by visiting the following: CNN, Drudge Report, and USA Today.

How do you stay up to date on current events?
