“Sleep: It Does a Family Good” by Dr. Archibald D. Hart which I received from Tyndale House Publishers enlightens readers of the great importance of sleep and the consequences from the lack thereof. He back s up all of his work with years of study on the subject and paints a grim picture of what todays society will be facing if they do not get more sleep. It all starts at home though children must be taught at an early age the value of sleep and the vital role that it plays in physical, mental and spiritual health. Since our society is one of training and not of instinct like animals we must train ourselves to get more sleep.
Throughout the book Dr. Hart produces fascinating information and statistics on sleep and sleep disorders. One of the features I like about the book is the fact that he gives you methods to improve your sleep habits and how to determine if you are in actuality getting enough sleep. I found the chapter on sleep strategies and sleep and spirituality to be exceptional.
I feel that the book is excellently written in a clear, easy to understand and applicable manner. I would recommend this book to anyone who is stressed and feel they are lacking in the area of sleep. It is an eye opening read that I feel families all across the country should take note of and try to integrate into their children at a young age. For if sleep patterns continue to deteriorate then the amount of stressed sleep lacking individuals will continue to increase year by year.
