Parenting is a never-ending journey. One that is full of ups and downs. A journey that will make you smile, laugh, cry, frustrated, impatient, question yourself, and offer many sleepless nights.
There is one thing that is for certain. That is, in my short two years as a parent I can honestly say that I would not change anything about it. I love being a parent no matter how tough it can be. It reveals much about yourself that you never knew. Some good and some bad.
Parenting, like marriage, is definitely a lifelong commitment. It is journey and responsibility never to be taken lightly of for granted. Over the next few weeks I am going to be going through the 4 stages of parenting.
The 4 Stages of Parenting:
- The Caregiver
- The Cop
- The Coach
- The Consultant
With this being said I will leave you with one of my favorite quotes on parenthood:
“Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.” – Elizabeth Stone
There may have never been a more true statement!

I love this brother. I agree as a dad of three girls that my heart has been on the outside for a while now!
Thanks man!
Being a parent/dad is a tough job… but an important and worthwhile one. Looking forward to your next posts!
Thanks. I love being a father and would not change it for anything!
Amazing stuff. Being a new dad I am just now starting this process. This was great!
I remember those days fondly. Take it all in. It really does fly by!
Wow, that’s quite a quote there at the end. It’s true, my life as busy and full as it is, nothing can compare the the joys and adventures of parenthood.
That is for sure Moe!
Love the quote! I hadn’t thought of it that way…but, watching my kids in all that they do really is like watching my heart. Looking forward to the upcoming posts.
Thanks Steven!
So true, having kids teaches me about the good, bad and ugly in myself. My kids display my character traits whether I like the trait or not. All this is good reason to be becoming a better person and teaching them to do the same!!
True Rich!
What a great idea for a series. Looking forward to catching up on it.
Thanks KC.
