The Boy Who Came Back from Heaven by Kevin & Alex Malarkey

The Malarkey family had no idea that one day could change the rest of their lives, but hat is how God works a lot of the time. He like to get your attention in big ways. Often in ways at first we cannot understand. He makes it undeniable for you to see His hands in the situation very clear.

The Malarkey family’s story started one Sunday afternoon when Kevin and his son Alex where on their way home from church. It was on that day that a car accident left little Alex in a coma and a quadriplegic. Little did the family and those around them know, but the Lord was answering all the prayers from the prayer warriors that had formed a community of faith around the Malarkey family. Not only where the Alex’s prayer army doing amazing things, but Alex while in his two month coma experienced the beauty of Heaven, God, Jesus, and was even face to face with Satan himself.

Through Alex’s accident and journey towards recovery the healing power and grace of the Lord can be seen moving in dramatic ways. With prayer warriors praying for Alex and God continually blessing the Malarkey family there is still hope and belief that Alex will walk again. Whether it be on this earth or in Heaven they are not sure, but they do know that the Lord will have his will in the situation.

Kevin and Alex do a wonderful job with this book. You can truly feel the the love and faith they have as you read through the pages. Alex’s accounts of Heaven, God, angels, and satan are truly moving.

All who read this book will be humbled by Alex’s faith, his love for others, and love for the Kingdom of God. We can definitely all learn something from Alex Malarkey, and strive to have the faith of this young child who has passed insurmountable odds that has given him wisdom way beyond his years.

Alex in the book was concerned that his story if published would take all of the spotlight of God. He feared that the story would feel more about him and we would loose sight of what we should be focusing on. Alex, rest assured that they Lord is speaking powerfully through through the pages of this book and your life.

In conclusion, this book truly is an inspiration and a testimony to the healing hand of God. It would be hard for me to believe that anyone who has heard, or will hear Alex’s story to say there is not a God.

Get this book today, it gives new meaning to “having faith like a child.”

I read the book & to be honest I think their name (malarkey) fits very well as the book’s full of it.
The bottom line is the “wonderful” Dad was a bonehead & an idiot – on his cell while driving & he pulls out in front of a car & gets creamed – gee, ya think ??!!
Then the idiot decsribes in the book how on the drive home – while he’s the lead with the ambulabce following him – he goes & makes a call on his cell AGAIN while driving. The guy’s nuts, & he destroyed his little boy’s life.
So he goes & makes up a story so he & his brood can pretend something wonderful came out of the accident. No, nothing good came out of it – your boy will never be whole, he’ll never walk, he’d be better off in the ground. Sorry to be so blunt, but his quality of life is crap, & the wasted money could have gone to much better causes than to keep the boy “alive”, such as his life is (or isn’t).

Those are some really blunt comments.
The fact is that we all made mistakes in this life. Some like Kevin’s mistake are far worse than others. So are the consequences.
I have to take the book for what it is, and not judge if it is true or not. I have see the Lord do some amazing things in my life. I would never say that he could not heal Alex. He is far bigger than you and I.
Are you a father Bob? Just curious. I am and I can understand what Kevin is doing. His son is not brain dead. He can interact with people. He just cannot walk.
Personally I think that the story, even without the accounts of Alex going to Heaven and seeing angels and demons, is still an amazing story of a families faith through tremendous struggles in life.

Even though we do not share the same opinion on this book you are entitle to your opinion.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Bobo, you are so rude and you need to rethink this. Your comment was very wrong, very very wrong. Have faith in the lord and quit being a jerk!

    • Jesuslives

Those are some very harsh comments. We should not be judging as we all make mistakes. Who are we to judge anyone’s quality of life or even judge God for allowing Alex to be here. Alex smiles, that in itself is remarkable. Going through all that and still being able to smile and love God…now that is amazing. His family is sticking by him. It’s best if we do not be the judge of others transgressions, but rather love and forgive people. I will keep you in my prayers as well as the Malarkey family. Alex, your a beautiful boy and seeing you smile in your pictures is the very essence of life itself…pure love and joy for the Lord. God Bless you sweet young man.

What does it say that Jesus said in the bible? Who ever has never sinned can cast the first stone!!

    • You don’t know me from Adam….

I am Happy to see that obviously Jesus has blessed your life that nothing like this has ever happen to you… And I hope it never does, But when you talk in such away like this Satan hears you, Because you are letting him in… You are subjecting yourself to the dark, And wicked side of this amazing story.. Sure at first glance you may only view this as a another Ni-eve driver to detracted from his driving, And killed his son’s chance at a normal life…. But if you have any spirit in you not just religious Cause I don’t think that you even have to be a Christian to see the power, And beauty in this story…. EVERYTHING, AND EVERYONE HAPPENS FOR A REASON !!!! If you just take a moment, And look just a little deeper in things you will be imploded with that message… The irony in all of this is that no matter how negative a comment you make or how “blunt” you clam to be God, and Jesus LOVE you isn’t that amazing that know matter what you do someone always loves you ? God sacrificed his own SON for you.. for all of us.. That is an amazing thing when you read it in the bible, But when it happens to just a regular Joe on the street its not as glamors, And selfless… If you have had the honor of reading his book you would understand all that had to happen for all of this to happen !! For peoples faith to become stronger, More children, And adults receiving a life altering surgery for a paralyzed person to have !! God was involved in this story from the moment Mr. Malarkey’s car crossed that intersection…. Maybe the accident was Satan’s work, Thinking he could take this Christian family, And tare there world apart, But with the power of God,Jesus, And there Angels on earth, And in Heaven it didn’t happen ! But from reading your statement above I see that you are one of the negatives for every positive, Which is great forces would not strengthen if there were not people like you in the world. Just like Christ in Christians would not power thorough anything if Satan wasn’t always one step behind them…. I pray for you that you never see any pain like this that a family member or yourself let alone your OWN child go through something like this Cause God forbid they do with people that have your mind set around they may not come out BEAMING from heaven as Adam did…. Adam may not walk on Earth with his legs, But he Soars on Earth, And in Heaven with his heart And to me that is the best quality to life a person could ever have.. Let alone be given… EVERYTHING happens for a reason… I had know idea of the Malarkey’s and there incredible story that happen a few years ago, And just the other day my husband’s Mother, And Aunt were vising for my daughter’s 1rst Birthday we were in Wal-mart (Not even the local one that I visit often)And we were getting pictures developed my daughter was asleep in my arms so I was walking around I spotted the book section that was oddly near the electronics.. Were at my regular Wal-mart there are in a different section ( A section I would not have ever went to had I not been at that Wal-mart So there I was looking at all the books thinking about getting one, And starting to read again when I spotted the title ” The boy who came back from Heaven” I read the back, And knew I needed to read it.. After reading this amazing ( true ) story I lead a different life nothing small bothers me I’m relaxed and blessed in my life for every small defeat I find the greatest in all I’m nothing more than a Mother, And a Wife.. Through the eyes of a child I have been born again.. I am not a religious go to church every Sunday person I have never even really read the bible, But I know when I see God I know there is a God, And I hope that you find him before he finds you With God all things are possible !! I think sometimes we get scared when we don’t understand even Adam talks about being scared when the Angels were all in the room. But fear is nothing more than uncertainty When you are told to feel something with your heart instead of your hand it may scare you But that is what God is for he is your comfort your understanding even if you don’t believe it even if you don’t believe ME it’s all okay I’m glad you said what you did I hope Adam, And his family read it also, So he can triumph over your raw understanding, Your black, And white composition of what the truth really is All you have to do is open your eye’s a little Adam already has God by his side the true power of prayer should go to you, And I hope it does, Because Satan is a dark game player as in god he also comes in many forms some obvious some not so much to the eye… That is when your heart is going to be your guide, And with out God its going to be a long hard road ahead.. But in the mean-time I will pray for you….

I feel so sorry for Bob whos comments were quite offensive to the Malarkey family and especialy Kevin. Its obvious that Bob does not know the Lord and thats a real pitty. I have just finished reading the book about Alex and was moved deeply by some of the things that God did for that little boy. I shed many tears whilst reading, but not tears of sorrow but tears of Joy at the way Gods mercy and Love was poured out on that family. I have been a Christian for more than 32 years and have witnessed the miracle working hand of God Many,Many times. God has richly blessed Alex, and my prayer is that He will continue to do so. In His Love…..Colin (Australia)

Colin, thanks for stopping by and commenting. We serve a powerful God, who can still perform miracles!

On page 7 the author states it was impossible to tell if a car was coming. There was a dip in the road 200 yards down. Cell phone usuage had nothing to do with it.

    • Adam

Totally agree Karen. Thanks for stopping by and sharing.

I just finished reading the book. Imo, it seemed very sincere and honest. If there is one theme that is harped on in the book, it’s that God should get the glory. It was quite moving to me. I actually used an excerpt from the book in my Sunday School class that I teach. Kevin had noticed that there were some Christians who were nice on the outside, but there was very little substance, while there were other Christians who were moved into action whether it was praying, service oriented or encouragement. The latter represents what Christians are called to do. The former probably represents probably the majority of us unfortunately. I thought that was good insight by Kevin.

      Thanks for sharing Todd!

I’ve attempted to research the book and am looking for both the recommended and critical review of the book. In addition, could you provide us with a list of prominent Christian men and women that either support or criticize the book?

My sister was home from Ontario and returning in the next couple of days. She passed me your book and with that had only one night to read it before she was to return.Needless to say into the wee hours of the morning I read your story.OH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL TESTIMONY OF THE MERCY,GRACE, LOVE AND POWER OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST. MY HEART REJOICED WITH YOU AS MIRACLES UNFOLDED IN YOUR LIVES. PERHAPS WHAT HAS TOUCHED ME THE MOST IS TO KNOW THAT ALEX HAS RECEIVED THE GIFT OF THE HOLY GHOST AS HE SPEAKS IN TONGUES TO HIS LORD GOD IN THAT HEAVENLY LANGUAGE.
When I received this precious gift I was unaware of what it was or even that it was an experience found in the Word of God.ALL I knew was I felt the presence of JESUS and I felt Joy Joy JOY.
My prayer is that as the Lord continues to perform miracles and healing in your family’s lives that God will richly bless your family with His truth, power, strength, and love as He draws you closer to Him.

  • Karen Daniel

    I just finished the book:)
I didn’t want to put it down once I’d started reading it!
I knew that the messages weren’t about Alex but the story
is his journey. I find myself praying for Alex and his family
over and over. I want this miracle to be out there for people
to be reassured that God is here and He is perfect. I pray that
Alex and his family continue to tell his stories and share his
experiences for the world to hear.
    Thanks so much for sharing!
    God bless you all!!!
