I was hesitant to chose this book for review from Tyndale Publishers.
Not because it did not sound intreging, because it did. The thing is that I had never read a Christian base fiction title. I have always viewed them as inferior to secular fiction titles. I know, that sounds terrible, but it is what I thought.
After reading The Brotherhood that thought is in the past. This book was fast paced and full of suspense, drama, and a great story.
The story is revolves around Boone Drake who is an up and coming young officer in the District 11 precinct who has it all going for him. A job at which he is rising through the ranks and a loving wife and family. Then in an instant his life is turned upside down, and he really finds himself struggleing to deal with the reality of what he is going through. He is constantly faced with tough choices, and finds solace and redemption in some of the most unlikely places.
I thought the book was great. I enjoyed the way that it was written and was a very easy read and constantly entertaining. The characters where developed very well and the emotions the books stirs in certain scenes are unlike any other fiction title I have read. The conflicts of faith that the stroy goes through are something that you wish upon no one, but it happens so many times in lives all around us. Jenkins did a great job with this.
One life lesson that I was able to take away from this book that I believe God puts people in you life for a reason. It is evident in this book that Boone’s partner is that kind of person.
