The Guatemala Sinkhole – Video

The sinkhole in Guatemala seen above happened this past weekend as a result of Tropical Storm Agatha. This large 60 meter deep sink hole swallowed up a building and a home. The cause of the sinkhole is being blamed on the downpour of  rain from the tropical storm. However, the locals think that there were problems with the area before the storm. they are saying that there have been cracks forming in the ground in the area and a similar sink hole happened in the area in 2007.

When I first saw the photo I though it was a doctored image, and thought there was no way that it was real. It just looks if it is an optical illusion. It looks as if it goes on forever.

The sinkhole is in fact real and has taken the lives of some of the locals. The death tole from the storm is now around 150 people.
