The Principle of the Path

I received this book in return for posting a review here on my blog from the Booksneeze blogging for books program.

Have you ever got to a point in your life wondered how you got to where you are?

From financial, relationship, faith, the book Principle of the Path looks to explain how you got to where you are.

How did I you get into this financial turmoil? The outcome you have found yourself in was probably made long ago when you decided to run up that credit card, or make a bad fnancial move and spend money that you did not have.

The same concept goes to relationship and decisions about your faith.

Andy Stanley in his book breaks this concept down very simply. He explains concepts that really challenge you to look at decisions you have made in your life that reveal a lot about where you are today.

Lots of times we look at the decisions others are making and know that they are making the wrong choices. However when we turn the tables on ourselves when cannot see as clearly. We are often fueled by emotions, love, and wants that literally block our better judgments.

This book has personal and biblical stories to fuel Andy’s concepts that are both entertaining and relative to the principle he is trying to get across. The book is an easy read and the concepts and thoughts he presents are very easy to understand.

I really enjoyed the book and Andy’s principle. It really makes you evaluate all the choices that you make and the outcomes they could possibly lead to without letting emotions blind you.

“Your direction, not your intention, determines your destination.”

I love this book! I can’t tell you how many choices I’ve made that hindered me from achieving my goals, and I didn’t even realize it.

This book is a MUST READ!

Haven’t read this yet but it sounds like a good one. I enjoy Andy Stanley so I’ll be adding this to my book list. I wish I would have thought through the decision to leave college after one year. I took 2 years off and it has caused me to be 25 and trying to finish up while working full time.

There are a lot of things I have done that I wished I had done differently. THe problem was of course, I didn’t think about it very well. You live and you learn.

I like Andy Stanley, I saw him teach at Catalyst East last year.

    • Adam April 8, 2011 at 9:45 am #

I hope to get to go to Catalyst soon.

I would have loved to been able to read this book several years ago!

weird, I was just looking at another Andy Stanley book last night. “How Good is Good Enough.” The previous owners had left it in our attic. Sitting all centered on the floor, waiting to be found. They must have thought we were cannibals or something.

Anyway thanks for the review :) and Gesundheit!

Oh yeah, I would have definitely not bought a laptop on eBay. It was several years ago. Big mistake. I’d rather not relive it.

    Adam,

I am looking forward to reading this book. Some of my hires at work I wish I could have had a little more insight and wisdom along with patience to hire the ‘right’ people not just people.

    • Adam April 8, 2011 at 9:46 am #

      I hear you Sean.

      Thanks for sharing!
