Verizon, the iPhone, Droid, and Blackberry

I have been with Verizon now for about 10 years and I am very pleased with the coverage that I get. I am often humored by the fact that I constantly have better coverage in places than the people I know that have AT&T. That is the main reasons that I have stayed loyal to Verizon even though they do not have the iPhone.

Don’t get me wrong I would love to have an iPhone. I have friends that have the and they are fascinating pieces of work. I cannot get myself to give up the coverage that I get from Verizon to do so though. There have been rumors of a version of the iPhone coming to Verizon in January of 2011. I can only hope for as much since there have been rumors about this for the past year or so.Why Verizon did not jump at the chance to sale the original iPhone when given the opportunity still baffles me.

My current phone is the Blackberry Storm (9350). I have not been a fan of it since I got it. Is freezes up constantly and the click screen is such a waste. I have been happy with the Blackberry phones that I have had in general though. They have served my needs. However, since I have started using my Blackberry the iPhone had to come along and open everyone’s eye to all the capabilities that  phone can actual possess. not to mention that all the apps that are being created are definitely catering more towards the iPhone and Droid than the Blackberry.

The new iPhone 4 does so many things that it consolidates the need for carrying multiple electronics. With it possessing a camera, HD video camera, video and music player and apps for just about everything it almost eliminates the need to carry anything else.

I am able to upgrade my phone at the end of this year and I guess that i will just have to wait and see what comes out for the Verizon network by then. I will definitely keep a look out for information on the fabled release of the iPhone, but I will have to see it to believe it. Right now I am leaning more towards possibly trying out one of the Droid devices if Apple does not make the jump over to Verizon. I have heard great things about the Droid phones. When actually getting to see one in action is was very similar to the iPhone and was supper fast; something that my Blackberry is not.

However, yesterday I stumbled onto a video from Blackberry OS6 that is soon to be released (see video below). Some of the features that are being showcased are very iPhone-like. I like where they are headed, but until I see the phones this OS will be going onto and the capabilities that they feature I still will be leaning toward Droid or iPhone.

Guess I will just have to see what happens in the ever evolving cell phone market.

So what is your phone of choice, and why?
