Do you watch the news?
A while back I decided that I just could not watch the news anymore.
The culmination of negative news reporting was just getting to me. It seemed like every time that I sat down to watch, everything being reported was negative. i guess if it is not negative, it is not news???
Come on, throw a good uplifting story in there somewhere! Save a kitten from a tree for crying out loud….
By the time I was done watching the news I was just feeling so down. How could you not with, war, crime, drugs, disasters, and the list goes on.
Don’t get me wrong, I am not trying to avoid bad news. I am just choosing to take it in defferently.
Now I read the news, and when I have read my news stories for the day I feel like I am up to date with what is going on in the world, and far less stressed.
So these days I am consuming my news fix by visiting the following: CNN, Drudge Report, and USA Today.
How do you stay up to date on current events?

I don’t watch the news often, but when I do I alwasy watch Dan Rather. He’s still on, right?
Dan Rather. not.
Just had to.
Yep, I’m the same exact way. I follow a few news sites on Twitter and subscribe to a few via RSS. I’d rather make my own evaluation of the news than it be “interpreted” for me by the media… especially when it comes to political stuff.
I have a really hard time with this because I want to be aware of what is going on in the world, but you’re right, everything on the nightly news channels or even websites during the day is full of fear and negativity.
I rarely watch the news because there’s better stuff to do and watch at night, but occassionally I’ll check in on CNN.com or NYTimes.com just for good measure.
I want to stay up to date as well, but I just wish there was a better mix…
